Project introduction
Wollega University is one of the public higher education institutions in Ethiopia, located in the Oromia region of western Ethiopia. The university was founded 17 years ago and has three campuses located in Gimbi, Nekemte, and Shambu, as well as a specialized comprehensive teaching hospital. Wollega University is located in a resource rich and strategically significant region of Ethiopia. The region is renowned for its enormous but untapped potential, including agriculture, mineral resources, natural and man-made tourism, indigenous institutions, and its geopolitical importance, including its proximity to the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). The latter will help promote economic integration in the Horn of Africa and other regions.
